NGN Optimising Pulse Production in WA: Herbicide and Weed Management Strategies for Lentil, Chickpea and Field Pea as Break Crop Options.
This three-year (2026–2029) Living Farm led project will deliver field trials for profitable pulse production (lentil, field pea, chickpea) across multiple rainfall zones in WA’s Geraldton, Kwinana East and Kwinana West port zones.

• The three key research themes of the project are 1. Establishment 2. Crop Protection and 3. Legacy.
• The program will evaluate establishment reliability, crop resilience, biological nitrogen fixation, seasonal stress management and rotational benefits on lentil, field pea and chickpea.
• By completion the project will produce practical management rules that enable growers and advisors to confidently integrate pulses into cereal-dominant farming systems.
